What is Queerness?
how can we come to know the gender as a spectrum? what is genderqueer vs. nonbinary?
Queerness, as we know it today, can be understood as a spectrum.
"People who are genderqueer often experience their gender as fluid, meaning it can shift and change at any given time. Genderqueer can also describe a position of questioning one's gender identity during a particular period or in an ongoing way" (Healthline 2017)
Genderqueer identity often falls under the umbrella in which a person's lived-experiences are more fluid. "Nonbinary" can often overlap with this concept as both identities, in general, don't identify with binary categories of man and woman.
However, genderqueer has specific political connections:
"I prefer genderqueer because it feels like it leaves it open to interpretation daily, which is how I feel about my gender. I feel different day to day, so sometimes certain terms fit and sometimes they don't, but genderqueer kind of always fits"-- Jay, The Healthline
